You knew this was coming . . .

I promised myself that I wouldn't be cynical and not react to the bigotry of the retarded polygamist Jesus freaks who helped in the successful passing of Proposition 8. Then I realized that I am a very petty and cynical person. So here goes:

Dear People who voted Yes on Proposition 8:

What I do know for a fact is, being aligned with Satan and all since I'm gay, is that when the "end of days" finally comes, your fearless leader, Wassila Wackjob Sarah Palin, is going to sell out your secret location for a double mooseburger. So, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Dear American Media,

Before you pat your own back and paint yourself as a "progressive" nation and all, keep in mind that South Africa had a black President before you did. They also have Gay Marriage. So South Africa has more equality. Uh-oh.

Dear Democrats,

Grow a pair for once in your life do the right thing for the LGBT community. You have the triple crown. Use it for something good before one of you gets a blow job from some fat woman and you hand the world back into the hands of the people who want to make out with Joe the Plumber in airport washrooms. (Ugggh).

Dear Rest of the world,

Get a fucking life and try to concentrate on your own elections. Geez.

Oh so YOU'RE American all of a sudden?
I think most of the media's done quite a good job reporting the passage of Prop. 8. I didn't read any favourable write-ups. Mostly neutral and many critical!

I think Sarah cried a bit during McCain's speech. The feminist in me felt slightly bad for her, but I think that part of me is in the grave at the moment.

The last phrase of this phrase should be though-provoking for many...well, I hope so !

@usp: I'm not America, I'm someone who is pissed off a little more than usual. The media has not called the Christian right on it's bigotry. It is a civil rights issue and they have not highlighted that.

@prash: Yeah .. I hope so too ....

Yes but...
You told the rest of the world to concentrate on its own fucking elections. Which part of the world do YOU belong to?

That's where you're confusing me! A bit of hypocrisy there, m'dear Whippy?

well, yes, but I'm part of the "rest of the world" cause I'm in India.
I was mostly taking a swipe at myself.

It's nuance, m'friend.

Well, the American media must be thinking "better late than never..."

I know, it's just that I needed a target to make a point and the media is the easiest one. Ergo.

I blame the media for all this hype over the US elections. It is important as to who US's next president is but it does not warrant such coverage in other coutnries. What's with the front page space dedication? NO other issues have been highlighted at all for the last week I notice and the funny thing is everyone's going Obama gaga without knowing WHY.

What I do wish is elections would take a leaf out of this one and we'd have as much campaigning and public outreach in India.

The thing is that the world media loves to talk about what the American media is raving about, whether it's the elections or Britney Spears.

In India, we really do need debates between the candidates. The problem is that the majority of 0our population is not interested in politics or any issues. Most of them would like to see stupid comedians or what the bachchans are eating for lunch.

At the risk of sounding cynical, should you really care when several European Countries abrogated the ban?

We won't stop living our life just because some moron thinks it's against nature or law!!

No no, they ARE interested in politics. It's just that the dumbass media insists on showing crap comedy and celebrity gossip and vixen-dominated stroylines. Also, politics in India is... boring. The politicians themselves are bloody clueless, they cannot speak to save their lives and won't make an effort to amend that, there's no public outreach. It would be a start to eliminate formal language and flowery sentences. It encourages rigidity and everything else falls down then.

@usp: I thought it was Lebanese ...??

@lob: Well, Europe is actually very liberal about sexuality. Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands have all legalized same sex marriiage. In fact, Amsterdam has the best red light area in the world and you can legaly smoke pot there. It's like how heaven would be, really.

@ddd: Yes, our politicians are extremely boring. When people like Obama or Bill or Hillary give a speech, for a minute or two, you can get caught up into it. That's how a leader should be. Sadly, none of our leaders are inspiring. They're as sad as hindi soaps.
